Bailey’s Ledge

  • Project Year: 2010
  • Design Lead: Tom Arkins
  • Custom Builder & GC: Arkins Construction Co.

In 2010, nearly one hundred years after its original construction, this 7,000-square foot residence which now overlooks an impressive golf course was in need of an update. With historical reverence at the forefront of design, Arkins Construction reimagined the structure’s exterior overlaid in natural shingle siding to be more in tune with the surrounding terrain.

Intent on a complete remodel, alterations were continued inward with an even more impressive level of design craftsmanship. Tom Arkins, founder of Arkins Construction, is responsible for the home’s streamlined interior floor plan, which at the time consisted of a complete gun renovation and reconstruction, utilizing as many antique and recycled materials as available.

Custom trim detailing, antique pine roof trusses and bespoke built-in cabinetry units designed specifically for the space were produced and fitted by Arkins Construction. In-house carpentry not only cut down on overall cost, but also created a uniquely regional aesthetic.
